Virtual education, also known as "online education", which refers to the development of training-oriented programs (teaching - learning) with the use of technologies in cyberspace. It is proposed to determine the importance of virtual environments in the development of students' reading and writing; To fulfill this purpose, a systematic investigation is carried out, framed in a qualitative - quantitative approach that allows combining the bibliographic and documentary study for the adequate understanding of the variables and the development of the study that leads to the fulfillment of the objectives; It is concluded that 87.5% of teachers hold the importance of knowledge about innovative methodological strategies for the process of teaching reading and writing to their students. Therefore, updating of knowledge through continuous training is recommended. Getting to define the incidence of virtual environments in the reading and writing of students, which should be reinforced through the use of techniques and strategies that allow the development of skills in students appropriately; Among the aspects to be highlighted is the planning and execution of educational processes in virtual reality; use of digital tools, platforms, etc. To improve the quality of education, it is important to provide training to teaching staff in the use of technological tools on the management of virtual platforms, allowing permanent interaction with students
